The Acid Splasher

I know it has been quite a hit in the news that there is a crazy acid-splasher in the city of Kuala Lumpur roaming around.

Police have issued a photofit of the notorious assailant, dubbed the "Bangsar Splasher", who struck recently again by attacking at 30-year-old woman driver at Section 10 Wangsa Maju.

Some has later sight this assailant at Jalan Desa Pandan where he was believed to be preparing to stage another attack.

Police described him as a guy in his 30s, moustached, wearing a white collared T-Shirt and dark pants while riding a black Honda EX 5 motorcycle with a black-visored helmet.

It is also said that this assailant’s vehicle registration number is WPV 4963 though it was a fake one.

For more information, please call the Rakan Cop at 03-2115 9999 or SMS POLISKL to 32728 immediately. Or SHARE this or other Blogposts and RT tweets regarding this Splasher.

We must get rid of this!

LATEST UPDATES ON THE ACID SPLASHER via TheStar Online
Man resembling photofit of corrosive liquid splasher walks into police station

KUALA LUMPUR: A man resembling the police photofit of the suspected corrosive liquid splasher came voluntarily into the police station and gave a statement denying that he is the wanted man.

Police checked his background and alibi and have determined that he was not the man they were looking for, said city CID Chief Senior Asst Comm Datuk Ku Chin Wah on Sunday. The man came in after his brother saw the photofit and advised him to clear his name with the police. No new case of acid splashing has been reported since the last one on Friday, he said. ___________________________________________________________________________ *edit* Effects of Acid Splashing Sorry to depress you guys this weekend but I felt compelled to share this info Anita Sharma sent me on the serial acid splasher: All of us must be on our toes from now onwards. We must work hand-in-hand to track down this animal. This serial acid splasher is of dark complexion and he rides either a Honda EX5 or Yamaha bike with a basket in front. So you should be more careful when you see these 2 types of bike approaching you. If you are a woman, a girl….or well just about anyone who is staying in KL-you might want to follow the following guidelines here: Always walk facing against the traffic: So that the serial acid splasher will not attack you from the back. Besides that by walking against the traffic you will have a better chance of avoiding anyone who looks suspicious to you. Avoid walking by the side of the road: If possible don’t walk at the side of the road at all if it is unnecessary. You will be exposed and make yourself easy target for this serial acid splasher. Walk near the building where there are crowded people. Always bring along an umbrella: This might sound crazy…but I suggest that you bring along a huge umbrella with you. So whenever you see someone suspicious approaching you, immediately open that umbrella to shield yourself from any possible attack. Yes! Just open it even though it is not raining. Best of all use the umbrella all the time. Moreover your umbrella can be a potent weapon for you to defend yourself in dangerous situations. Inform the police of any suspicious motorcyclist: Banking on our lazy and inefficient Malaysian police alone is not enough. So the moment you see anyone riding a bike with dark complexion and looks suspicious…immediately take down the number plate and inform the police to come over as soon as possible. Who knows? Your information might lead to the nabbing of this serial acid splasher! Put on more clothes: I know the weather is scorching hot right now. But putting on an extra jacket or vest might buy you some time to escape the devastating acid if *touch wood* you are being splashed! Don’t go out at all: No matter where you go, try not to walk…at all. If possible don’t even go out if you don’t have any transport, preferably car. It doesn’t matter if the sundry shop is only 50 metres away from your home…you don’t want to risk being splashed with acid right? So ask your parents, husband or other family members to ferry you around if you can. Use as much water as possible: Water is the best remedy to counter the corrosive acid. The moment someone is being splashed with acid (either it is you or other victims), pour as much water as possible onto the affected body parts especially the eyes. Keep on pouring a large amount of water to dilute the acid. Keep on doing this until the acid has been diluted and washed away. So I suggest all of us to bring a water bottle all the time.

Amazing Race (Part 3)

My last post for Amazing Race (Part 3) : I LOVE MY CITY. The last task was to be back at church and be thrown water balloon at.DSC_4618 DSC_4619 DSC_4622 This was the big mastermind who threw the water balloons down. It looks as if she almost fell off the windows.DSC_4623 DSC_4627 2nd Runner Ups posing for a photo.DSC_4635 DSC_4640 DSC_4643 DSC_4650 The Champions and the Runner Up? Amazing Race (Part 2)

So here’s continuing the story of Amazing Race. The next task was located at Pudu Jail, the famous Pudu Jail has recently been torn down (slightly) and is now one of KL historical sites, if I am right. The task was to ask someone with a specific colour t shirt to take a picture with them.DSC_4576 DSC_4577 KL Tower was the next location of the Amazing Race 2011: I LOVE MY CITY. Participants were given 2 choices – LOGIC or CREATIVE. In CREATIVE: They were asked to draw a picture of KL Tower In LOGIC: They had to do some tough Mathematical calculations on the parking rates.DSC_4588 DSC_4593DSC_4615 What a great 1 Malaysia Spirit snapped eh? This is one brilliant 1 Malaysia picture.DSC_4601 DSC_4607DSC_4617 Next up is the Bukit Nanas jungle where they had to solve a puzzle and had to the other end of the jungle.DSC_4608 DSC_4610 DSC_4613They were crazily tired and some even got lost in the jungle. Stay tuned for my last post on ROCK Amazing Race 2011.

ROCK Amazing Race 2011 (Part 1)

ROCK Amazing Race is an annual event organised by ROCK Youth. It has been probably been hitting the city of Kuala Lumpur (and partially Selangor) the past few years. And recently, in March, it was held all over Kuala Lumpur. For this year, the theme is “I LOVE MY CITY”. I think many of the youths these days have failed to recognise the importance of loving the country, or even the importance of standing by our nation. Youths these days tend to drift away in their own world criticising their own country due to many factors. Here, “I LOVE MY CITY” is one of the best themes to inculcate in a youth event to encourage participation and love for their nation. I will be going through the routes of the race all over Kuala Lumpur. Pretty fun and exciting one. All geared up at the Registration Counter.DSC_4493 DSC_4494 Participants all in their sports attire, ready to run and race. They know it’s not gonna be easy for the amount of cash they are gonna get.DSC_4501 This is Toly, with Matthew Oh curi-ing glamour behind.DSC_4502 All ready to START!DSC_4534 First task was probably the easiest in an Amazing Race. Sorting the beans. On a side note, have you ever wondered, if you count the beans, how much effort the organiser has to put in? I am a little curious. DSC_4540 DSC_4545 DSC_4558 Next stop was at the Open Area at Maybank. The task? Was to sing Jaclyn Victor’s Gemilang in the public. They were learning the song there. Who cares the tunes, the tones, the melody and the lyrics? People just wanted to get away from such a tough song. Jaclyn Victor was the 1st Malaysian Idol winning over Dina many years back. Her rendition of Gemilang was probably proved that she is a “super duper” singer and Malaysia still have a great talents. DSC_4564 DSC_4565 The next stop was behind KLCC, if I remembered correctly. They were given a break with sandwiches and drinks.DSC_4568DSC_4572 Next part UP soon!

Shoooo..t Them!

If you know me well, or even you don’t; you’d know I am not a big fan of sports. I am one lazy pig. But I’ve always dreamed of whacking my teachers or shooting arrows at them when I hate them so much last time. I used to have this teacher who threw our books out of the windows when there are mistakes or undone work. And I used to secretly wish I had a book to throw right at her face. Mean but I really wished that happened. Here’s one activity I did recently that brought back such memories – Archery. I was at Stars Archery in Berjaya Times Square for a trial the other day to help do I LOVE DISCOUNTS next promotion. I thought it was tiring at the same time a fun activity. Though I wish in the future, there will be an archery which allows us to print our enemies faces and place them on the board for us to shoot. Anyone agrees?D3C_7223At Stars Archery,  you’d be given a personal training. Despite my hatred towards sports, I thought the training was pretty intensive, and stressful for a newbie like me. I actually tweeted that “There is this girl who is intimidating me”; thankfully, after I tweeted, she got done with her game and went off. And here comes another pro, I was like.. This is bad. Really bad. He’s really good too. But who cares right? It’s all done in the name of “FUN!”D3C_7231 Colours brighten up my days. Okay, random but yeah pretty tidy and neat place for such a place!D3C_7232 My turn through hell. Not that bad, but I got some “lectures” and some kinda talk on how to handle it. I was sweating all over. Stress gila! 😀D3C_7236 I got down to some actioooon!D3C_7237 Laughing about something my colleague was commenting. I know I suck at it. But I did it anyways. So, who cares if you suck right?D3C_7240 D3C_7241 See I was getting worst, so another guy came to coach me. Personal attention fuih! Giving you a chance to feel like a celebrity. HahahaD3C_7244 D3C_7245 D3C_7247 So, I did better and was left alone now. I felt lonely but pretty shock la. Especially the moment you let go the arrow, your heart skips a second. Really!D3C_7252 D3C_7255 D3C_7261 My last act of being a pro. No, not a pro but I had fun. You’ve gotta try it and I can assure you the deal is dirt cheap. Check out www.ilovediscounts.my all next week for the deal. It’s coming. I assure you. It sure is.

1Malaysia Email – Need?

I initially wanted to take a break from blogging but I decided to put this into words. So, the mega news circulated over the Internet and creating a massive chaos over all social networks – Facebook, Twitter, etc. So, whats your take? I am gonna make this as thought provoking as I could, as how I always want it to be instead of making you flush down my thoughts in your throat. What is 1Malaysia Email? – It is basically an email given to any Malaysian above 18 with abc@1Malaysia.com.my Does it makes one cooler or more united by just having the same surname or end-name? We could all be called Alvin Malaysia. How does that sounds? If you think having the same surname brings unity, I want you to know that it’s just a “name”. How about talking about issues regarding this whole concept? Security – You have to agree that Malaysians, generally can be the No 1 in introducing any products or any services. But when it comes to maintaining, we fail miserably. And hence, Security (password leakage) and all could be an issue. And this is something Malaysians really need to work on, MAINTAINING. Privacy – If you think you like someone opening up your emails reading them once in a while, then you are gonna love this. And imagine this is the GOVERNMENT portal holding all your I LOVE YOU, WHY NO KISS ME? I HATE YOU messages. I am diverting this away from politics; but ponder this: What if you talk bad about the government? We are a democratic country anyways? And all in all, COSTS – I don’t really care who is forking out the money. It doesn’t really matter. My point here is: Is 50 million worth it when something that is better and more established is already at our doorstep? 50 million could have done a great deal with closing the digital gap in Sarawak and the urban cities, yes? Are we really being thrifty by spending 50 million? Speculations have warned that Malaysia is going bankrupt. I am not talking about the authenticity of this news, but government should be THRIFTY in their spending. 50 million could bring 50 million smiles, 50 million could bring 25 million homes, 50 million do a lot. To sum it all, here’s the view of Chief Minister of Penang, Lim Guan Eng said to Prime Minister on this issue:

And I have to agree your suggestion is brilliant. This is clearly not a chicken and egg issue. When you have no WiFi, you have no connection, you have no connection, you have no email. My take: ADDRESS THE ROOT OF THE PROBLEM. Give free WiFi. To make your day brighter: 1memail

BRUNO MARS LIVE IN KL 2011 – “The doo-wops & hooligans tour”

bruno-mars-live-kl-poster “Grenade”, “Just The Way You Are”, “Marry You” lyrics has been blasting the Malaysian airwaves. For musicians, the chords are even written on their forehead. Okay, I’m just kidding. But my point here is, Bruno Mars has been hitting all the local airwaves with his hit songs. And man, I’ve to tell you his songs are so addictive. And once you get hold of it, it’s stuck the forever like glue.bruno-mars-grenade And Bruno Mars will be in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in April 2011. It will be happening at Putra World Trade Center (PWTC). Okay, no reasons why it’s in PWTC okay? I don’t know either. But all about Bruno Mars? You just need to be there to find out! And if you know him well, go and listen to him and see if he is willing to catch a grenade for you. Or if he’s willing to jump in front of a train for ya? Bruno Mars is the recent winner of the Grammy Awards – Best Male Pop Performance. If you are wondering who brought you Bruno Mars Live in KL 2011 – It’s Maxis. Bruno Mars LIVE IN KL 2011 available tickets? Rumours had it that it’s sold out. Rumours also had it that some has kept the tickets and will be re-sold again soon. Though TicketPro has officially announced that it’s best to try find it somewhere. Apparently, some “players” are selling their tickets at really expensive prices. They probably bought it and is intending to play around with the price or get more bidders in. Rumours that Bruno Mars Malaysia Concert on Facebook is also sold out though! So, here’s trying your luck! So, you want Bruno Mars Live in KL 2011 tickets?bruno-mars-kl-concert-details I might just have 1 for you. I might. *fingers crossed*. Happy 5th Birthday Twitter

You know I am always slower than many others, so, hence this blog about Twitter’s 5th Birthday recently. I’ve always wanted to do posts which affect people and mentions people. So I told myself that I need to get my hands dirty and really put in some hard work. And with all the below, please also know that it is of my own opinions and does not represent any corporation or conglomerates. If you think I’ve prolly missed out your name or Twitter account, I hereby apologise. Leave me a comment la! But it’s quite amazing how some people still asks “What is Twitter?” though I received these questions less often these days.

In the past short five years, Twitter has reporting having 200+ million users (and bots) and a market valuation of $8 – 10 billion. It is also mentioned that Twitter will continue to change how we discover and interact. Also, to shape culture and the nature of relationships. Fast Company gathered the numbers and have came into the conclusion below:

It took 3 years, 2 months and 1 day to hit 1 billion Tweets. Now it only takes 1 week for Twitter to syndicate 1 billion Tweets — although most of them lately will probably include mentions of Charlie Sheen, Rebecca Black, or Justin Bieber. In February 2011, daily Tweets averaged 140 million (140 FTW) almost 3x the 50 million Tweets sent every day this time last year. On March 11th in the wake of Japan’s devastating earthquake and tsunami, Tweets flew to 177 million. On New Year’ Day 2011, 4 seconds after passing midnight in Japan, a new Tweets Per Second (TPS) record was set at 6,939. While the exact number of users is elusive, Twitter reports that 572,000 accounts were created on March 12, 2011. 460,000 new accounts were created each day on average in February 2011. Mobile use of Twitter is booming, growing 182% in the last year.

Anyways, my point here is that if you are a new twitter-er or a quiet one, I’m trying to be an awesome guy here to help you out and to expand your horizons. HAHAHA! Just kidding. But, here are some people I follow and I think you should follow too. They are either brilliant, famous, popular or a nobody. If you are listed, put yourself into one of those category. If you think you are in the first 3 category, then YOU’RE SHAMELESS as I am. 😛 OF COURSE, ALL IN ALL, YOU’VE TO FOLLOW MY RANTINGS at @alvinkok_2. That’ll bring you a long long way!

Basically, the list above are people whom I’ve been following which I think has help me know more about the world. Like I said, this is a personal “follow list”, which may or may not left out deserving or undeserving people. Follow at your own risk. At least, to me, these are the people I think you should follow on Twitter. I realised by doing a list like this, I’ve kinda unfollowed quite a number of people who stopped tweeting too. Tell me if you agree to this list by leaving me a comment! Love hearing from you.

Doubletree Hotel by Hilton

Some of you may have overheard or ter-read on Twitter or Facebook that I won a 2 Days 1 Night Stay at the Guestroom at Doubletree Hotel by Hilton. Doubletree Hotel by Hilton is actually the old Crowne Plaza, if I remembered correctly. With the winning entry on one of their Merdeka Day Facebook Contest, I was invited with a bunch of winners and bloggers to attend their dinner as well as to collect my prize. Like I said, I won a 2 Days 1 Night Stay. Some blogger from Advertlets were there such as Josh Lim and Jin from Hitz.Fm Party Show (which he also blogged about it here)IMG_0360I was also treated to a sumptuous meal at the Makan Kitchen. There are various food in Makan Kitchen and each section called Kitchen has their own specialty.IMG_0361This was the Chinese Section where you get the Chinese food like Dim Sum and some other normal Chinese Food. IMG_0362This was more of the Malay Section, where you get rojak. Goreng Pisang and all. The goreng pisang was nice. Really nice. 😉 IMG_0364This was the Iban side of food. Which I think it was also combined with some Indian food. I didn’t try this much as I was not a big fan of Indian food. But I did try some of it. IMG_0366 IMG_0367Some of the seating positions at Makan Kitchen. They have really nice interior. Loving the designs and the simplicity as well as the lightings accompanied with it. IMG_0368The view from Makan Kitchen. IMG_0370And we were also given a tour before we actually ate because we were waiting for buka puasa. We were brought around the newly renovated and refurbished hotel. I’ve to say it’s really nice and well done. We went to the gym first. The gym has loads of equipments as well as its a really nice environment.IMG_0372 IMG_0373This was their Italian Restaurants. Sorry for the lack of pictures. But it looks really nice. IMG_0374This was a random view shot from below which I took.IMG_0376The outside section where you can grab a drink. IMG_0377Because it was time to buka puasa, we went back for a meal first. But this is something you might wanna look for when you’re there – The Teppanyaki Ice Cream. It’s really crunchy and nice. I loved it very much.IMG_0382And this is the Teppanyaki Ice Cream IMG_0383My lovely ice-kacang. Other food I didn’t take much! :) IMG_0384We were brought up to the hotel too. These are some of the images of the room. IMG_0386 IMG_0387This is funny so I had to do this, the glass was transparent. You can see whatever happening inside the washroom if you leave the blind open. LOL. If you wanna show your partner something, this might be something interesting for you to do? :op IMG_0389 View from the hotel rooms.IMG_0390Another part of the hotel: IMG_0391 IMG_0392 IMG_0393 This is The Food Store where they sell stuffs:IMG_0394They are also famous for their Chocolate Chip Cookies.
